The Company is a globally respected manufacturer of Insoluble Sulphur. We possess more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing this product. Over the years, our knowledge has translated into the ability to manufacture customised and value added grades for our customers. These grades have helped us address the demanding requirements of some of the largest global quality-driven tyre manufacturers.

Milestones

1978

Incorporated as Dharuhera Chemicals Ltd to manufacture Sulphuric Acid, Commenced Sulphuric Acid production

1984

Merged with Oriental Carbon Ltd to form Oriental Carbon & Chemicals Ltd

1994

Commenced Insoluble Sulphur production

2000

Divested the carbon black business

2005

Doubled Insoluble Sulfur capacity by adding 2nd line(100% EOU) at Dharuhera

2009

Embarked on a greenfield investment of 11000 Mtpa for Insoluble Sulphur at the Mundra plant

2011

Commissioned the first expansion phase of the Mundra plant with a capacity of 5500 MTPA

2012

Acquired 50% equity share in Schrader Duncan Ltd; commissioned the second phase of the Mundra plant with 5500 MTPA

2016

Kickstarted a brownfield expansion of 11,000TPA of Insoluble Sulphur capacity at Mundra in two phases.

2017

Commissioned the first phase of the next round of Insoluble Sulphur expansion of 5500 TPA at Mundra

2018

Commissioned the second phase of the Insoluble Sulphur expansion of 5500 TPA at Mundra

2019

Kick-started the brownfield expansion with an additional 11000 MTPA of Insoluble Sulphur capacity at Dharuhera

Leadership Team

The Company’s leadership team comprises the promoter management, possessing extensive industry experience. The result is a managerial bandwidth equipped to address demanding product and service requirements, translating into customer delight and business sustainability.

Arvind Goenka, Chairman & Managing Director

Arvind Goenka is an inspiring leader who has successfully led OCCL in its journey towards becoming a global supplier of Insoluble sulphur and a domestic leader in this product category. He has led OCCL through its many challenging phases with great conviction. He has showcased great entrepreneurial spirit and bold decision making while building OCCL around pride, passion & perseverance and continues to evolve OCCL in order to be at the forefront of the industry. He had over 3 decades of rich experience in successfully leading jute, lubricants & carbon black businesses before taking over the OCCL’s current product portfolio. He is also a known philanthropist and has created a CSR vision & roadmap to fulfil OCCL’s quest of becoming a responsible corporate citizen of the country. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Calcutta University, having graduated from there in commerce. He has a keen interest in Art.

Anurag Jain, Chief Financial Officer

Anurag joined OCCL in 1990 and has been one of the most significant contributor in OCCL’s restructuring and growth. He is a dynamic leader with strong domain expertise and a thorough understanding of the industry. Over the last many decades, he has led multiple projects for improving efficiencies, cost structures and automation. He has also built a robust F&A function and team. He also heads the Procurement, legal & IT functions and is also responsible for Sulphuric Acid sales. Anurag also actively champions the CSR, environmental & sustainability initiatives of the group. He graduated from Meerut University in 1986

Dr. Rahul Garg, Head R&D

Dr. Rahul Joined OCCL in May 2019 is leading the R&D function. Prior to joining us, Rahul has worked with BASF & Jubilant. Rahul has more than 13 years of extremely rich & versatile experience since as he has worked on a varied range of products like Leather and Dyes, Light Stabilizers, Medicinal Chemistry etc. Rahul has completed his Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from Ohio State University, USA. Prior to this he did M.Sc.(Int.) in Chemistry from IIT-Kanpur.

Akshat Goenka, Joint Managing Director

Akshat joined OCCL in May 2010. He is a young, aspiring and dynamic new generation leader who is spearheading OCCL’s transformation into a future ready, high-performance organisation. He led the expansion at Mundra and ensured successful completion of the project in record time. He is actively involved in making the product portfolio robust and capable to meet future requirements of the customers. In addition, Akshat is also the MD of Duncan Engineering Limited which is a subsidiary of OCCL. Through his focussed approach and bold initiatives he has successfully turned around the subsidiary in less than 3 years and made it profitable. Akshat is a graduate in Economics & International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania, USA and is enrolled in the Owners/President Management program at the Harvard Business School.

Syed Adeel Ahmad, Head HR

Adeel Joined OCCL in November 2018 as Head of HR. He has rich and progressive experience of 14 years in plant, corporate & overseas HR roles. He is championing the ambitious people agenda of OCCL- creating an employee centred HR function by bringing HR best practices and making OCCL an attractive work-place for current & future talent. He is focused on creating a value based culture and a high-performance talent pool. Adeel has an MBA degree in Human Resources & Marketing from Faculty of Management Studies, Hamdard University (Delhi).

JP Goenka, Chairman Emeritus

Mr. JP Goenka is a well-known industrialist hailing from the prestigious Goenka family headed by (Late) Sir Badridas Goenka of the industrial group popularly known as the ‘House of Duncans’. A visionary leader with 55 years of experience across industries, Mr. Goenka also held various illustrious positions like Chairman-Indian Woollen Mills Federation (1969-70), Chairman- Calcutta Jute Fabrics Shippers Association (1969-71), President-Bengal Mills Owners Association (1972-73), Chairman-Indian Jute Mills Association (1973-74), Chairman- Indian Cotton Mills Federation (1978-80) etc. He is an Honours graduate from University of Calcutta.

Vijay Sabbarwal, Head Operations

Vijay Sabarwal has been heading OCCL operations since 2014. He has successfully led the organisational expansion in recent times. He has rich & diverse experience of 25 years in world class global organisations. he has successfully led several process improvement initiatives and streamlined operations by creating robust systems and creating a culture of continuous improvement. Through his leadership in technical and R&D, he is responsible for transforming OCCL into a best in class manufacturing organisation built on the pillars of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety & Morale. He is An IIT- Roorkee alumnus, having a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
